Hey everyone, just read this article about Kodiak and Teck teaming up in Arizona. Honestly, this is pretty interesting news, especially with the copper outlook these days. I've been keeping a close eye on copper plays for a while now, ever since I started diversifying more of my portfolio beyond just tech. My kids are still young, but I'm thinking long-term here for their college funds and our eventual retirement, and raw materials feel like they have some real legs.
The part about them spinning off their Mohave and Copper Hill projects into a new company, Kay Copper, really caught my eye. This could be a smart move – focusing dedicated resources on those assets. I’ve seen this kind of JV or spin-off play out before in the junior mining space, and sometimes it really ignites investor interest and brings in fresh capital for development. With Teck involved, there's definitely some big-league backing and expertise there, which reduces some of the typical junior exploration risk that usually makes me a bit hesitant. The fact that it's Arizona-focused is also a plus; stable jurisdiction and existing infrastructure are always a good sign.
What do you all think? Anyone else looking at copper plays right now? Or does anyone have experience with these kinds of joint ventures and new company formations? Curious to hear your takes on whether this has the potential to be a solid long-term hold or more of a speculative swing. Always appreciate the collective wisdom here!
