Hey everyone,
Just read this article about Focus Graphite's updated resource figures in Quebec, and wow, 14.7 million tonnes? That's a serious upgrade – 86% over their 2022 numbers! It definitely makes me take a closer look at the graphite space. I've been dabbling in a few junior miners for a while now, mostly in the lithium and rare earths sector, anticipating the EV boom. Graphite is obviously a huge but often overlooked piece of that puzzle. My portfolio is heavy on battery metals, and this kind of news makes me wonder if I should be rebalancing a bit or at least adding more exposure to the graphite side of things. Given the push for domestic supply chains, a Quebec-based project with this kind of scale is pretty compelling, especially thinking about future demand for my kids' generation.
I know some of you have been in the mining sector longer than I have, and probably have a more nuanced understanding of these resource updates. What are your thoughts on this? Does the sheer size of the resource make Focus Graphite a more attractive long-term play, or are there other factors to consider that might temper the excitement? From my experience, resource size is one thing, but getting it out of the ground economically and into a processing facility is another entirely. Any veterans here have opinions on how this fits into the broader battery metals landscape? Always appreciate hearing your insights before I go making any big moves toward my retirement goal!
