Birch Gold experience for a sub-$250k portfolio?
- •Been seeing a lot of chatter lately, especially with all the ups and downs we're watching the market do, about diversifying into precious metals.
- •I appreciated that, especially since I wasn't dropping millions.
- •Their minimum seemed reasonable for what I was looking to do at the time.
Been seeing a lot of chatter lately, especially with all the ups and downs we're watching the market do, about diversifying into precious metals. I've had a decent chunk of my retirement in a Gold IRA for a while now, probably just over 200k in there, mostly gold but just picked up some silver coins through them. I'm a small business owner here in Savannah, tourism sector, so I've seen my fair share of economic tides come and go, and having that tangible asset has always been a big peace of mind for me.
I went with Birch Gold Group a couple of years back after a lot of digging, mostly because they seemed to have a solid reputation and really talked me through the whole process without feeling pushy. I appreciated that, especially since I wasn't dropping millions. Their minimum seemed reasonable for what I was looking to do at the time. I'm curious if anyone else here has used Birch Gold, especially if your portfolio size is similar to mine, say between 100k-250k?
Specifically, I'm interested in their customer service post-initial setup. My dedicated rep has been good, but sometimes I feel like the priority shifts to bigger clients. Also, their silver coin selection for IRAs – has anyone gone deep into that? I just added some American Silver Eagles and Canadian Maple Leafs, but wondering if I should be looking at other options with them. Are there any other providers out there you’d recommend for those of us not moving seven-figure sums into precious metals, particularly for silver?
The fees can always be a bit opaque, so if anyone has insights into finding the best deal for a smaller account, I'm all ears. It's not about being cheap, it's about being smart with my money, especially when you're trying to weather potential storms for your kids and grandkids.
