My Augusta Precious Metals Experience - Anyone Else?
- •I’ve got about $70k in that account, and I ended up moving roughly half of it over.

So, I finally pulled the trigger on converting a chunk of my old 401k into a Gold IRA, and after a lot of research, I went with Augusta Precious Metals. I’ve been looking into this for about a year, but with all the wild swings in the market lately, especially being in the music industry here in Nashville, I just felt like I needed something a bit more stable. I’ve got about $70k in that account, and I ended up moving roughly half of it over.
My main contact there was Mark, and honestly, the guy was a saint. He answered probably a hundred questions, some of them probably pretty dumb, but he never made me feel like an idiot. The whole process felt super transparent, which was a huge relief. I was pretty nervous about transferring funds and making sure everything was above board, but he walked me through every single step. From setting up the new LLC (which was a little confusing but they made it easy) to picking out the specific coins, it was surprisingly smooth.
The actual transfer process itself took a little longer than I anticipated, maybe about three weeks from start to finish, mainly because my old 401k provider was dragging their feet a bit with the paperwork. But once that was sorted, getting the metals purchased and into the vault (I chose Delaware Depository) was quick. I even got confirmation photos of my holdings, which was a nice touch and definitely gave me peace of mind.
I know some people are skeptical about precious metals IRAs, but for me, having that physical asset feels like a real anchor in turbulent times. It certainly beats watching my retirement fund fluctuate based on the latest streaming numbers or tour cancellations, lol. Has anyone else here used Augusta? What was your experience like? Any long-term holders seeing good returns?
