Anyone feeling the urge to rebalance from gold to property right now?
- •Lately, though, I've been eyeing some commercial real estate opportunities here in AZ.
- •The thought of taking, say, 10-15% of my gold holdings and diversifying into a tangible asset that also produces cash flow is incredibly appealing.
- •My concern, naturally, is the timing.
Been wrestling with a rebalancing question for my portfolio and wanted to see if anyone else in the Gold IRA space is feeling similar urges, or if I'm just getting antsy. I've been heavily invested in physical gold and silver for years – probably about 40% of my overall 5M+ portfolio is in precious metals, split between a Gold IRA and quite a bit at home in the vault. The initial instinct was for inflation protection, and it's certainly delivered on that front, especially living in Scottsdale where everything feels like it's doubled in price every other quarter.
Lately, though, I've been eyeing some commercial real estate opportunities here in AZ. Nothing speculative, just some solid income-generating properties that feel like they're finally correcting after going absolutely bonkers the last couple of years. The thought of taking, say, 10-15% of my gold holdings and diversifying into a tangible asset that also produces cash flow is incredibly appealing. I’m an entrepreneur at heart, so the idea of an active investment with real-world utility always gets my gears turning more than just holding a non-yielding asset, even if it is a fantastic store of value.
My concern, naturally, is the timing. My gut says gold still has legs, especially with all the geopolitical wildcards flying around. But then again, if we're heading into a period of more stable inflation (or even disinflation, however unlikely that seems sometimes), the opportunity cost of not leveraging some of that gold appreciation into something that can throw off steady income feels significant. Has anyone else considered a similar move, or even executed on it? What are your thoughts on shifting a portion of a substantial precious metals portfolio into real estate right now? Are we still in the "hold gold no matter what" phase, or does tactical reallocation make sense?
