Added silver to my Gold IRA - anyone else diversify metals?

Just made the move to add some silver to my Gold IRA, and honestly, it feels like a smart play. I've had a significant chunk of my portfolio, probably around 10-15%, in gold for a few years now – something I started doing more seriously after seeing some of the market volatility back around 2020. As a doctor here in Boston, I'm pretty conservative with my long-term investments, and the stability gold offers has always been super appealing. My overall portfolio is in the $800k range, and getting a good portion of that into tangible assets felt right.
Lately, though, I’ve been reading a lot more about the industrial demand for silver, especially with all the talk about green energy and tech manufacturing. It just clicked that while gold is great as a hedge against inflation and a store of value, silver has this additional upside potential from its utility side. That’s why I decided to allocate about $50k from my existing cash holdings (specifically some CDs that were maturing) into silver within my IRA. It’s not a huge portion, but enough to feel like I’m participating without going overboard.
I guess I'm looking for a bit of a sanity check here. Has anyone else done something similar – diversifying within their precious metals IRA? Did you consider platinum or palladium too, or stick primarily with gold and silver? I’m always curious about other people's rationale, especially those of us who tend to be a bit more hands-on with our retirement planning rather than just setting and forgetting with mutual funds.
My hope is that this blend gives me the best of both worlds: the reliability of gold combined with the potential growth of silver. It feels like a solid move for my overall diversification strategy, but always good to get some outside perspective. What are your thoughts on precious metals weighting in IRAs these days?
