Wife talked me into a Gold IRA rollover and I'm genuinely impressed!

Okay, so my wife is usually the more cautious one with investments, always watching the market and talking to her financial advisor. I'm a doctor in Boston, pretty busy, and generally just trust my diversified portfolio (mostly stocks, some real estate, bonds, crypto dabbling). Gold was never really on my radar, felt a bit antiquated honestly. But she kept bringing it up – "what if the market tanks?" "inflation is real, honey!" For months, it was a low hum in the background, then she really ramped it up after a particularly volatile stretch in the tech sector. She spent weeks researching, reading every forum, every article, and built out a whole presentation for me on the benefits of rolling over part of my old 401k into a Gold IRA. I swear, she could be a financial analyst!
I finally caved, mostly to get her to stop talking about it, but also because her arguments were surprisingly solid. We decided to roll over about $150k from an old 401k that was just sitting there, not really doing much for me. The process with Augusta Precious Metals (who she meticulously vetted) was unbelievably smooth. I thought it would be a huge headache, but they handled pretty much everything. It was a pleasant surprise, to say the least.
Now, a little over a year later, I'm actually really glad she pushed me. With all the economic uncertainty and inflation creeping up, having that gold as a hedge has been genuinely reassuring. It's not about making a quick buck, obviously, but the stability it’s provided to a portion of my nearly $1M portfolio has made me sleep a lot better at night. Who knew my wife, with her knack for future-proofing, would be so right about this?
Anyone else have a spouse who convinced them to make a significant investment move that paid off unexpectedly? Or did you have an initial skepticism about gold that later shifted?
