Why I diversified my Gold IRA with Silver - a few thoughts

Just wanted to share some thoughts on why I recently decided to add a decent chunk of silver to my Gold IRA, after being pretty much 100% gold for the past few years. For context, I’m sitting on a portfolio north of $5M, mostly real estate and a good amount in various precious metals, including my IRA. Been a real estate developer out here in Aspen for the last 25 years, so I’m used to thinking long-term and seeing cycles.
My initial dive into the Gold IRA was purely about hedging against inflation and market volatility. Gold’s always been the king for that in my book, and it's served me well. But lately, I’ve been looking more closely at the gold-to-silver ratio. It feels like silver is ridiculously undervalued right now compared to gold. When you look at its dual role as both a monetary metal AND a critical industrial component in so many rapidly growing sectors (EVs, solar, electronics, etc.), it just makes sense that demand is going to surge. Gold has its industrial uses, sure, but nothing like silver. It feels like a sleeping giant, and I picked up about $250k worth of silver rounds and bars for the IRA. Feeling pretty good about that move.
Another factor for me was the increasing geopolitical instability. When things get really dicey, access to smaller denominations of precious metals can be key. Hypothetically, if fiat currency took a major hit, trading a small silver coin for goods and services is a lot more practical than trying to break down a gold bar. It's a pragmatic, albeit extreme, consideration. But hey, when you've got this much wealth tied up, you think about all scenarios, right?
Has anyone else here diversified into silver recently within their IRA? Or are you sticking purely with gold? I know some folks just see silver as too volatile, but I see opportunity. If you're new to this whole Gold IRA thing and curious about the options, I actually found the Gold IRA Quiz pretty helpful when I was first deciding which way to go – it helped me narrow down my objectives nicely. Curious to hear other perspectives on silver.
