Took some convincing, but my wife is finally on board with the Gold IRA!

Whew! What a journey it's been getting my wife fully on board with the Gold IRA. I’ve been steadily investing in physical gold for a few years now, primarily through my IRA, and have seen some decent stability, especially with all the market turbulence recently. My portfolio is sitting comfortably around the $180k mark right now, and a good chunk of that is in precious metals. I'm a healthcare administrator here in Tampa, and while my 401k is strong with traditional investments, I really appreciate the diversification that gold brings.
My wife, bless her heart, is more of a traditional stocks and bonds kind of person. She’s always looked at gold as a bit "old school" or something for doomsday preppers, which honestly, I get the stereotype. I've been trying to explain the hedge against inflation, the historical stability, and frankly, the peace of mind it gives me, but it was like talking to a brick wall sometimes. Every time I brought it up, she'd have questions about liquidity or if it was truly a "growth" investment. She was mostly worried about missing out on potential stock market gains, especially during a bull run.
What finally seemed to turn the tide was less about my talking points and more about showing her the data. I stumbled across this fantastic tool, the Gold vs Stocks Comparison, and honestly, it was a game-changer. I pulled up the 10-year chart and just let her look at how gold had performed compared to the S&P 500. While stocks have had some incredible jumps, the visual representation of gold’s consistent, albeit slower, upward trend and its performance during downturns really resonated with her. Seeing it side-by-side, especially after she saw some of our tech stocks take a hit last year, made it click.
Now, she's not suggesting we dump everything into gold overnight, which I wouldn’t do anyway. But she’s much more open to increasing our allocation slightly and understands the "why" behind it better. It’s such a relief to have her understand and support this part of our financial strategy. Has anyone else had to convince a skeptical spouse or partner about their Gold IRA? What arguments or tools worked best for you?
