Got a question for the group about rebalancing. I've been pretty invested in physical gold for my IRA, mostly because I believe in hard assets, especially with all the digital money talk these days. Agriculture's been my life out here in Fresno, and you learn quickly that real things hold value. I've got around $75k in my Gold IRA right now, acquired over the last 5-6 years.
Lately, though, I've been looking at silver. Gold's been great, don't get me wrong. But silver prices seem like they've got some serious upside potential, especially with the industrial demand picking up. My advisor mentioned diversifying within precious metals, and honestly, a Silver IRA sounds pretty compelling for a portion of my portfolio. I'm wondering if anyone here has actually gone through the process of rebalancing their Gold IRA to include a significant amount of silver. What was your experience like?
I'm not looking to dump all my gold, definitely not. But maybe shift 10-15k over to silver. Are there any hidden fees or complications I should be aware of when doing an internal transfer from gold to silver within an IRA? Or is it as straightforward as selling some gold and buying silver within the same custodian? Any advice or personal anecdotes would be massively appreciated. Just trying to make the smartest move here for the long haul.
