Thinking about my kids' future with a Gold IRA rollover
- •Been doing a lot of thinking lately about my Gold IRA, especially with all the talk about inflation and our national debt.
- •I know I’ve mentioned before about rolling over my old 401k into a Gold IRA a few years back.
- •It was about $75k then, and it's done pretty well, especially with the recent market jitters.
Been doing a lot of thinking lately about my Gold IRA, especially with all the talk about inflation and our national debt. I know I’ve mentioned before about rolling over my old 401k into a Gold IRA a few years back. It was about $75k then, and it's done pretty well, especially with the recent market jitters. It’s sitting closer to $88k now, which isn't life-changing money, but it feels a lot more secure than my old portfolio ever did.
My big question for you all is about legacy planning. As Mayor of a small town here in Boise, Idaho, I spend a lot of my time focused on the long-term well-being of our community. That naturally spills over into how I think about my own family. My kids are still relatively young, and I want to make sure I’m setting them up for success, not just financially, but in understanding responsible asset management. I’m not talking about leaving them a fortune, but rather a stable foundation.
I’ve heard some talk about passing on precious metals. Has anyone here actually done that with their Gold IRA? Or even just considered it? I’m trying to wrap my head around the tax implications and the logistics of transferring ownership down the line. Is it better to just liquidate it when the time comes and leave them the cash, or is there a way to keep it in the physical gold form for them? Seems like a pretty important distinction given how much I value the tangible aspect of this investment.
Any thoughts or experiences would be hugely appreciated. Always good to hear how others are approaching this, especially those who prioritize long-term stability over short-term gains like I do. What are your strategies for integrating your precious metals into your broader estate planning?
