Hey everyone, just tossing out a question about storage fees for my gold IRA. I’ve been steadily adding to my gold IRA for about five years now, usually making a decent contribution each year. My portfolio is sitting comfortably around the high 100s, low 200s mark, and I'm really happy with how it's performed, especially with all the economic uncertainty lately. I’m a healthcare administrator here in Tampa, so I see the bigger picture of economic stability (or lack thereof) pretty clearly, which just reinforces my decision to diversify into precious metals.
My current custodian has been great, no real complaints with their service or transparency. However, I’m starting to feel the pinch a little bit on the storage fees as my holdings grow. I pay a percentage-based fee, and while it wasn't a huge deal when I first started, it's becoming a more significant line item now. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this and found a good solution?
Are there custodians out there that offer flat-rate storage, or perhaps a tiered system that becomes more economical for larger portfolios? I don’t want to sacrifice security or reliability, obviously, but if there's a way to optimize these fees without jumping through a ton of hoops, I'm all ears. I mean, every bit counts, right? That’s more money staying in my account and working for me.
Any insights or recommendations from others who’ve been in a similar situation would be awesome. What percentage do you pay, if you’re comfortable sharing, or what kind of fee structure do you have? Just trying to get a feel for what’s out there. Thanks in advance!
