Still feeling good about my gold-backed retirement, especially with all this inflation talk.

Just wanted to share a quick update and see if anyone else out there is feeling the same way. I pulled the trigger on a Gold IRA back in 2009, right after the whole '08 mess. As a retired teacher here in Phoenix, watching my 403(b) take a beating really lit a fire under me. I started with about $100k of my retirement savings and converted it into physical gold held in an IRA. It felt like a big step at the time, especially with all the naysayers.
Fast forward to now, and honestly, I'm just incredibly relieved. With all the constant headlines about inflation, interest rates, and geopolitical drama, it's a huge comfort knowing a significant chunk of my nest egg isn't tied directly to the whims of the stock market. I haven't tracked it daily, but my portfolio's grown nicely since then, probably closer to the $180-200k mark now purely from appreciation, plus the peace of mind is invaluable. I sleep better, plain and simple.
I know gold isn't for everyone, and it definitely has its critics. But for me, especially after experiencing a major market downturn firsthand, it’s been the steady hand I needed in my retirement planning. Are there any other long-term gold investors out there who feel similar about their decision post-2008? How has your experience been?
For anyone on the fence or just starting to look into this, I remember using an Eligibility Checker when I was researching. It was super helpful to quickly see if I even qualified for a Gold IRA. I think the site was something like eligibility.goldirablueprint.com – definitely worth a look if you're curious about your options without a big commitment.
