Still blown away by the gold performance in my IRA. Seriously glad I didn't stick with just stocks.

Just wanted to share a quick win and see if anyone else is seeing similar gains. Been holding a decent chunk of my IRA in physical gold for about 7 years now. Started with about $275k from an inheritance my grandfather set up (he was always big on hard assets, old timber guy). The concept of tangible wealth just made more sense to me than endless paper chasing, especially with everything going on these past few years.
Honestly, when I first made the move, I got some flak from friends who were all in on tech stocks. They were like, "Gold doesn't pay dividends!" and "It's a boomer asset!" But seeing the way things have shaken out, especially post-COVID and with all the inflation scares, I'm feeling pretty vindicated. My gold holdings have just… gracefully appreciated. It’s not the explosive growth of some speculative stocks, but it’s been incredibly consistent and a fantastic store of value. Sleeping easy knowing a significant portion of my retirement isn't tied to the latest market whims is priceless.
I know everyone talks about diversification, and yeah, I have other stuff too, mainly real estate here in Spokane and some blue-chip equities. But the gold in the IRA has been the steady anchor. It hit the 500k mark a few months back, and while I haven't done an exact calculation of my annual percentage gain off the top of my head, seeing that number just gives me a huge sense of security. It’s what my grandfather would have wanted, that long-term, generational wealth play.
Anyone else feeling this way about their gold allocation lately? Or did I just get lucky with my timing back then? What's your outlook on gold for the next 5-10 years? I'm debating whether to keep adding to it or if it's hit its saturation point for my personal portfolio goals.
