My wife finally came around on the Gold IRA - Took some convincing!

Okay, so I've been bugging my wife for what feels like years about getting some of our retirement allocation into physical gold, specifically a Gold IRA. As a manufacturing exec here in Cleveland, I see the volatility in markets driven by so much that’s completely out of our control. I'm all about hard assets, things you can touch and know are real value. My personal portfolio is sitting between $300-$350k right now, and I just couldn't shake the feeling that we needed more diversification, away from just stocks and bonds.
Her main concerns, understandable as they were, centered around "it's not liquid enough," "what if we need it fast," and "the fees seem high." She's more of a traditional 401k/brokerage account person, very by-the-book. I showed her all the historical data, all the arguments for hedging against inflation and market crashes, how gold has performed during periods of economic uncertainty. Frankly, I think what finally turned the tide wasn't just the data, but seeing the headlines lately. All the talk about inflation, interest rate hikes, and geopolitical instability – it started to resonate more.
What really sealed the deal was when I explained the physical aspect of it all, that we'd own actual metal, held securely outside of the banking system. We talked through the storage options, the specific gold rounds we could opt for, and the whole process. I guess for her, knowing it wasn't just some paper asset felt more secure. We decided to roll over about 15% of my IRA into gold, which for my current balance meant a pretty significant chunk. Feels like a real weight off my shoulders knowing that portion of our future is anchored in something tangible.
Anyone else have to really work to get their spouse on board with a Gold IRA or other alternative investments? What arguments finally won them over? And for those of you who've been in for a while, any tips or regrets now that we're finally pulling the trigger?
