Small portfolio looking at Gold IRAs - Who have you used?
- •Been thinking a lot about diversifying my retirement beyond just stocks and decided a Gold IRA might be the play.
- •I've been in the casino industry here in Vegas for decades, so I understand risk management better than most, but this is a different kind of game.
- •I've got around $150k in my current Roth IRA and I'm looking to roll over a portion of that, probably around $50-75k, into physical gold.
Been thinking a lot about diversifying my retirement beyond just stocks and decided a Gold IRA might be the play. I've been in the casino industry here in Vegas for decades, so I understand risk management better than most, but this is a different kind of game. I've got around $150k in my current Roth IRA and I'm looking to roll over a portion of that, probably around $50-75k, into physical gold. My understanding is that usually means silver or platinum too, but I'm primarily interested in gold.
I've done some initial searching, and honestly, the sheer number of companies out there is a bit overwhelming. Some seem to cater to much larger portfolios than mine. I'm not trying to buy out Fort Knox, just want to stable a good chunk of my retirement savings in something tangible. I'm looking for a company that isn't going to treat me like small potatoes just because my initial transfer isn't six or seven figures. Reasonable fees, good customer service, and a straightforward process are key.
Anyone here with a similar portfolio size (let's say $100k-$250k total) done a Gold IRA rollover? What companies did you use? Any companies to absolutely avoid? I'm trying to figure out if there are specific "small investor friendly" companies out there or if they all pretty much offer the same experience once you get past the initial sales pitch. I'm particularly interested in hearing about your experiences with fees and storage options.
I'm really trying to get this wrapped up in the next few months. The current market volatility has me a bit antsy, and honestly, I just feel better knowing I have something real stashed away. Any recommendations or insights would be massively appreciated. Thanks in advance!
