Been thinking a lot about my retirement lately, especially with all the talk about inflation and the economy. I've got a decent chunk of change tied up in my business here in Fresno, but my personal portfolio, I'd say it's in the 50-100k range. For a while now, I’ve been wanting to diversify into something real, something tangible. Grew up in agriculture, so I've always believed in assets you can actually see and hold, not just numbers on a screen. That's why a Gold IRA really appeals to me. I'm not looking to dump my life savings into it, just a portion to protect against the craziness.
I started looking into various companies, and honestly, it's a bit overwhelming. Some of these outfits seem geared toward multi-millionaires, which isn't exactly where I'm at right now. I'm trying to find companies that are good for smaller investors, someone like me who wants to roll over a 401k or an old IRA without getting hit with exorbitant fees or minimums that feel out of reach. Transparency is a big deal to me—I want to know what I’m paying for and why.
Has anyone here with a similar portfolio size had good experiences with specific Gold IRA companies? What were the standout features or, conversely, what were the red flags you ran into? I took the Gold IRA Quiz I found online the other day, and that gave me a baseline understanding, but I really value real-world accounts from people like you. Any recommendations for companies that are solid for a ~75k investment, give or take?
Just trying to make a smart move for my family's future, keep things stable. Appreciate any insights you all can share.
