My Gold IRA transfer took way longer than expected, anyone else?

Just wanted to share my experience with a 401k to Gold IRA rollover and see if anyone else had similar timelines. I finally got my physical gold delivered last week, and while I'm stoked to have it, the whole process felt agonizingly slow. I initiated the direct rollover from my old 401k back in early September, targeting primarily American Gold Eagles and some Canadian Gold Maple Leafs. I'm sitting on a decent chunk, about $350k of my portfolio is now in gold, and I was really keen to get it secured.
I feel like the financial advisor I worked with (who was otherwise great, based out of Vancouver, WA) initially downplayed the timeline. They said 2-4 weeks for the whole thing, tops. Ha! The transfer of funds from my old 401k custodian alone took almost three weeks. Then there were the usual paperwork delays, some back and forth with my new custodian about signature verification (even though I thought I'd dotted every 'i' and crossed every 't'). It felt like every step had some unexpected hold-up. Being a former bank manager myself, I understand bureaucracy, but this still felt excessive.
Then came the actual acquisition and shipping. Once the funds finally cleared with my Gold IRA custodian, it still took another couple of weeks for the coins to actually be purchased and delivered to the depository. All told, from my first phone call to the gold being safely stored, it was roughly 8 weeks. I was getting pretty antsy, checking tracking numbers multiple times a day from my place in Portland. My main motivation for this move is diversifying away from what I see as increasing stock market volatility and inflation concerns, and those 8 weeks felt like an eternity watching the news.
Is this typical? Did I just hit a bad patch with holiday slowdowns or something? I know a lot of you advocate for metal diversification here, so I'm curious what your experiences were like. What's the fastest anyone's seen a significant rollover go through?
