Been seeing a lot of posts about silver lately, which reminds me of my own journey. Started stacking silver a few years back, maybe like 2018 or so? Always heard the executives at the oil company talking about inflation hedges and tangible assets, and it finally clicked that I needed to do something besides just my 401k. For years, all my extra money just went into my savings account, barely earning anything. Felt kinda dumb when I realized how much I was losing to inflation.

My initial strategy was pretty simple: buy a 1 oz silver round whenever I had an extra $50-100 from my paycheck. Nothing fancy. Just tried to keep it consistent. I remember the first time I held a real silver coin, it just felt...right. Heavy, tangible, not like some piece of paper. I'm up to about 500 oz now, maybe a little more, and it's mostly been those basic rounds and some common Eagles. I even bought a few 10 oz bars recently, mostly for the feeling of holding something substantial. It's exhilarating and a little terrifying at the same time to have that much physical wealth, especially living in Tulsa. Anyone else feel that rush?

Now that I've built up a decent stack, I'm thinking about diversifying within silver. Should I start looking at some more numismatic coins, or stick to just bullion for the weight? I've seen some proofs that are gorgeous, but the premiums really sting. I'm also considering adding some platinum, but that's a whole other rabbit hole. For those of you who have been stacking for a while, what's your "next step" after accumulating a good amount of basic bullion? I'm not a high roller obviously, with my portfolio currently sitting around the 150k mark (including my IRA), so every investment definitely counts.

Another thing I've been wrestling with is storage. Currently, I've got it in a couple of fairly discrete places at home. Not a bank safe deposit box, because honestly, I like being able to touch it when I want to. But I sometimes worry. What’s everyone else doing for home storage? Any clever, secure spots people have found? Don't need to give away your exact location, obviously, but general ideas would be great.

That's cool you're into silver, but honestly, I'm a bit more biased towards gold for the really long haul. Silver's great and all for its industrial uses, and can have some wild swings, but gold just feels like the OG, undisputed king of inflation hedges. Plus, the sheer density and value-to-weight ratio is a big plus for storage. Just my two cents!

Dude, I can totally relate to this. Same thing happened to me, but with gold. My dad used to talk about it all the time, watching the news about economic uncertainty and stuff. Thought it was just "old man stuff" until I actually looked into it myself. Now I've got a decent little stack going. It's a surprisingly good feeling, isn't it?

Super interesting to hear about your experience! Just curious, when you say "tangible ass," was that a typo for "assets" or something else entirely? 😂

Awesome to hear about your silver stacking journey! It's always cool to see how people get into it. Since you mentioned inflation hedges, you might find this article on the gold vs. silver debate as an inflation hedge pretty interesting. It breaks down some of the pros and cons for each from a long-term perspective. Keep on stacking!
