Okay, so I'm relatively new to this whole Gold IRA thing – just rolled over about $75k from my old 401k a few months back. I'm a small business owner in Denver, and honestly, the stability of physical assets just felt right given the current market shenanigans. Most of it went into gold, as you'd expect, but I also allocated about 10% to silver. I specifically bought some 10oz and 100oz silver bars because I liked the idea of holding something tangible and a bit more accessible than a gold kilo if I ever needed to liquidate a smaller amount.
My initial strategy was pretty simple: gold for the bulk of the inflation hedge and long-term stability, and silver as a smaller, more volatile, but potentially higher-growth play. I'm looking at my portfolio now and starting to wonder if I should up my silver allocation a bit. I'm still feeling a bit nervous about the economy, and I keep hearing whispers about silver being undervalued compared to gold, especially with all the industrial demand picking up. My thought is to maybe bump it up to 15-20% of my IRA, pulling that extra percentage from my gold holdings.
Has anyone here significantly diversified their Gold IRA into silver? What are your experiences? Did you see better returns, or did the volatility stress you out too much? I'm trying to balance that "safe haven" aspect with some growth potential, and silver seems to sit right in the middle. I'm also curious about storage – right now it's all in the authorized depository through my custodian, which is fine, but I'm just thinking out loud.
Any insights, positive or negative, would be appreciated. I'm trying to learn as much as possible before making any big moves. Thanks!
