Been noticing a lot of chatter lately about silver's future, specifically how much industrial demand is going to move the needle. As someone who’s had a significant chunk of my portfolio in physical silver for approaching fifteen years now, this has always been a key part of my investment thesis. I'm talking well over a million in physical metals, so I follow this pretty closely. My initial dive into silver was for its monetary properties, sure, but the industrial angle felt like an added layer of security, a real floor against downside.
My question for you all is, how much weight are you really putting on the industrial demand side? I see projections for solar, EVs, 5G, etc., and the numbers for silver consumption are staggering. But then I look at the current price action, and it just doesn't seem to reflect that impending demand. Is it simply a matter of scale and time? Or are we overestimating the immediate impact? I'm always trying to refine my understanding, especially with the way the broader market moves these days.
Living out here in Scottsdale, I'm surrounded by a lot of folks who are just now waking up to precious metals as a serious hedge, not just some fringe asset. They’re hearing about the industrial side of silver and getting excited, which is great, but I want to make sure I’m giving the most accurate perspective. For my own portfolio, I’m still long on silver, mostly because I believe the industrial demand will become undeniable. But the patience required can be… humbling, even for someone who's seen a few market cycles.
Thoughts? Is there a piece of the puzzle I'm not seeing that explains the discrepancy between projected demand and current valuation? Or is this just the classic precious metals playbook: slow and steady until it’s not?
