Seriously considering a 401k to Gold IRA transfer

Okay, so I've been sitting on a chunk of my old 401k for a while now, probably close to $700k that's just collecting dust in what feels like a highly overvalued market. I've got enough real estate deals cooking to keep me busy, and my primary holdings in metals are obviously physical, but I'm really eyeing transferring that 401k into a Gold IRA. I’m in Aspen, and frankly, the vibe here has me thinking even more about tangible assets. Who else has done this recently?
My big question for those of you who've gone through it: what's the actual, realistic timeline from initiation to having the metals in the vault under my name? My financial advisor is giving me some fairly generic "weeks, sometimes months" type answers, which isn't helping me plan. I'm talking about the entire process – paperwork, rollovers, actual purchase, and finally, the metals being secure. I’m used to quick, decisive action with my developments, and this kind of vagueness is driving me a little nuts.
Also, any pitfalls to watch out for that aren't immediately obvious? I’ve done my homework on the various custodians and dealers, but sometimes the devil is in the details, especially with larger sums. I ran some numbers on the Silver vs Stocks tool (for a 10 year period, cause that’s my typical horizon when I’m holding onto anything long-term) and the resilience of silver is just so damn compelling compared to the volatility of stocks. That's really solidifying my decision, especially seeing the long-term trends there. Any thoughts on mixing in silver with the gold for this specific IRA, or should I just stick to gold given the transfer mechanics?
