Roth vs. Traditional for a Gold IRA - What's everyone else doing?

Okay, so I've been kicking this around with my husband for a while now, and honestly, the tax stuff just makes my head spin sometimes. We've got our Gold IRA humming along, holding a nice chunk of physical gold and silver, probably around $70k right now after adding a bit more after harvest last fall. But we initially put it all in a Traditional IRA, thinking we'd deduct the contributions to lower our taxable income. My husband's got a decent income from the farm, and while we're not struggling, every penny counts with equipment costs and everything else.
Lately, though, with all the talk about inflation and changing tax rates down the road, I'm starting to wonder if we made the right call. We're thinking long-term here, for our retirement, maybe 15-20 years out. Wouldn't it be better to pay the taxes now and have our gold (hopefully significantly more valuable then!) grow tax-free in a Roth? It feels like we're betting on future tax rates being lower than they are now, and with the way things are going in DC, that feels like a pretty risky bet to me.
We're just simple folks here in Kansas City, trying to protect our wealth with something tangible, something that isn't just numbers on a screen. Precious metals have always made sense to me – hard assets, real value. But the Roth vs. Traditional decision has just been nagging at me. For those of you with Gold IRAs, which route did you go and why? Did anyone switch from Traditional to Roth, and if so, what was that process like? Any major headaches or unexpected costs?
I'm really trying to get a handle on this before we make any big moves. Thanks for chiming in!
