Rollover took way longer than expected, anyone else?

Just wanted to share my experience with a 401k to gold IRA rollover and see if anyone else had a similar timeline. I finally pulled the trigger on getting some physical gold into my retirement portfolio – felt like a smart move with the current economic climate, especially running my own little biz here in Denver and seeing some of the volatility. I had about $75k sitting pretty in an old 401k from a previous job, figured it was prime for transfer.
I initiated the direct rollover process about ten weeks ago. Ten! I was initially told it would be closer to 4-6 weeks, maybe 8 at a push. The paperwork itself was pretty straightforward, and the gold IRA company was super helpful on that front. But the back-and-forth between the old 401k administrator and the new custodian has been a nightmare. It felt like every other week there was some "missing form" or "signature clarification" needed. At one point, they said a check was mailed to the wrong address, which freaked me out a little, thinking about that much money floating around.
The money finally landed in the new account last week, and the precious metal purchase was executed pretty quickly after that. So, all told, we're looking at close to 2.5 months from start to finish. I'm relieved it's done, and I feel good about having some tangible assets, but man, the waiting game was stressful. Is this typical for a direct rollover? Did I just get unlucky with my old 401k provider being slow, or is this the new normal for these types of transfers? Trying to figure out if I just need to adjust my expectations for future moves.
