Rollover took longer than expected, but glad it's done. Anyone else experience delays?

Just wrapped up my 401k to Gold IRA rollover, and man, it felt like an eternity. I started the process back in late November, hoping to get everything squared away before the new year. I had about $800k sitting in an old company 401k from my energy sector days, and with all the market volatility, it felt like a no-brainer to finally get some of that into physical gold.
My advisor at Augusta Precious Metals was great, walked me through the paperwork, and everything seemed straightforward. But then it justβ¦ stalled. The old 401k administrator (one of the big guys, won't name names here) seemed to take their sweet time releasing the funds. Every time I called, it was a different excuse β "processing backlog," "missing signature," "system update." Seriously, felt like I was pulling teeth. It finally cleared last week, and I'm happy to say I've got a good chunk of American Gold Eagles and Canadian Maple Leafs safely in the vault. The peace of mind is worth it, even with the headache.
I know these things can take time, but I was really expecting maybe 3-4 weeks max, not nearly three months! Is this typical for a direct rollover of that size? Did I just hit a bad patch with the holidays and end-of-year rush, or are some administrators just notoriously slow? Would love to hear if anyone else in Houston or elsewhere has had similar experiences, or if I just got unlucky with my old plan provider.
