Rollover to Gold IRA timeline experiences? Dallas here.

Been thinking a lot lately about how quickly things can go sideways, especially with all this chatter around the dollar and the election. My portfolio, mostly in gold, has done me real good these past 15 years, but I’ve still got some funds lingering in a traditional 401k from my old oil and gas days. It’s got roughly $150k in it, and I’m seriously considering rolling a good chunk of that over into my Gold IRA. I’m in Dallas, for what it’s worth, and I’ve been through a few of these transfers before, but it’s been a while, and I remember it feeling like molasses.
Last time I did a direct rollover, it took a solid three weeks from the time I initiated it until the gold finally landed in my depository vault. That was back in '17 or '18, I think. Felt like an eternity, especially since the market was a bit volatile at the time and I was worried about missing a good entry point. My current Gold IRA metals are mostly US Gold Eagles and some Canadian Maples, with a small stash of silver bars (mostly 100oz Sunshine Mint) I picked up as a hedge. Thinking of doing something similar with this new rollover, maybe adding some more silver this time around.
Anyone in the community here completed a 401k to Gold IRA rollover recently? What kind of timelines are you seeing these days? Are we talking weeks, or could it stretch into a month or more? Did you run into any unexpected hiccups with your old 401k provider or the new Gold IRA custodian? Any particular providers you'd recommend for speed and efficiency, or ones to steer clear of? I’m trying to plan this out to minimize any potential market exposure during the transfer, so hearing about recent experiences would be super helpful.
I know every situation is different, and my old 401k provider might be faster or slower than others, but I'm looking for a general pulse. My core belief in physical assets staying strong, especially with geopolitical tensions and inflation ticking up, remains as steadfast as ever. Just want to make sure I execute this latest move as smoothly as possible. Thanks in advance for any insights, folks.
