Rollover stress - 401k to Gold IRA, how long is this supposed to take?

Okay, so I finally pulled the trigger on getting a chunk of my old 401k from my brief stint working for Weyerhaeuser out of paper assets and into something more tangible. I'm talking a pretty significant chunk, north of $350k, moving into a Gold IRA. My family has always been big on generational wealth, and honestly, the market volatility lately just makes me nervous about keeping everything in traditional stocks. We've got a lot of timberland up here in Spokane, and with everything going on, I just feel better having some physical asset exposure.
The whole process so far has been... excruciatingly slow. I initiated the direct rollover about three weeks ago, and it feels like I'm still stuck in paperwork limbo. The custodian on the 401k side is asking for this form, then that form, and then saying they need to verify X, Y, and Z. My new Gold IRA custodian is being super helpful, but they can only do so much until the funds are actually released. I'm just sitting here watching the news and wondering if I made this move too late, or if every day that passes is another missed opportunity. Is this normal? What's a realistic timeline for this kind of direct transfer?
I know I should probably be more patient, but when you're talking about this much money, it's hard not to feel anxious. I’ve been trying to educate myself as much as possible, even checking out resources like the Learning Center at Gold IRA Blueprint, which has been helpful for understanding the general process. But it doesn't really give you the emotional prep for how long actual transfers take. Anyone else been through this recently? Any tips for speeding things along, or just managing the anxiety?
