Rollover question for smaller portfolios - Gold IRA minimums?
- •My current portfolio is probably in the $150k range, and I was hoping to move maybe $50k-$75k into physical gold.
- •Am I misunderstanding something?
- •Is there a sweet spot for smaller rollovers, or do I just need to save up more before I can really get into this?
I’m finally getting serious about rolling over a chunk of my old 401k into a Gold IRA, and after seeing some of the minimum investment requirements, I'm feeling a little disheartened. I’ve been following the advice of some of the execs at the oil company here in Tulsa – they swear by precious metals as a hedge, especially with how things are looking globally.
My current portfolio is probably in the $150k range, and I was hoping to move maybe $50k-$75k into physical gold. However, everywhere I look, the minimums seem to be geared towards much larger portfolios, like $25k, $50k, or even $100k for the initial investment, not just the total rollover. Am I misunderstanding something? Is there a sweet spot for smaller rollovers, or do I just need to save up more before I can really get into this?
It's frustrating because I'm not trying to get rich quick, just protect what I've got. The thought of all that fiat currency just sitting there, losing value, seriously keeps me up at night! Any other folks with portfolios in a similar range run into this? What did you end up doing? Did you find a reputable company with lower minimums?
I've been trying to educate myself as much as possible, mostly through articles and some YouTube channels. I recently stumbled on the Learning Center from Gold IRA Blueprint, which actually has some really great educational resources on rollovers and avoiding common pitfalls. I'm going to dig into their section on minimums to see if they have any insights there. Just feeling a bit overwhelmed by the numbers right now.
