Rolled over part of my 401k a few years back - feeling pretty good about it now

Just wanted to share a little update from my investing journey. I'm based here in Salt Lake and about 5 years ago, right when things were looking a little shaky politically and economically, I consulted with my financial advisor about diversifying. He’s been a huge proponent of precious metals for long-term stability, especially for folks looking at retirement within the next 15-20 years. I wasn't quite at that stage yet, but I was definitely open to exploring options outside of the traditional stock market.
At the time, I had a little over $300k in my 401k from my previous job that I rolled over into an IRA. After a lot of research and talking it through with my advisor, I decided to roll over about $75k of that into a gold IRA. My advisor actually helps a lot of his clients set these up, and he really walked me through the process of selecting a custodian and the types of coins to consider. It felt like a significant chunk of change to move out of what I was used to, but the logic behind it for inflation protection and market uncertainty was really compelling.
Fast forward to today, and honestly, it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made. That initial $75k has seen some really solid appreciation, especially with all the economic weirdness we’ve been through. It feels incredibly reassuring to have that tangible asset as part of my portfolio, totally separate from the daily swings of the stock market. I’m thinking about adding a bit more to it next year depending on how things are looking. Anyone else here pretty happy with their gold IRA performance lately? What's your current allocation looking like?
