Rolled over an old 403b to a Gold IRA - feeling good!

Okay, so I’m not talking about 20 years of investing or anything crazy, but I just completed my rollover from an old 403b into a Gold IRA, and honestly, it feels like a HUGE win. I’m a teacher here in Columbus, and for a while, I just had this old 403b from my first few years of teaching just… sitting there. It wasn't doing much, and with all the market volatility lately, I was getting more and more uneasy about it just being in stocks and bonds.
I started looking into Gold IRAs a few months ago after reading some stuff online – not gonna lie, I was pretty skeptical at first. But the more research I did, the more I liked the idea of having some physical assets that weren't directly tied to the whims of the stock market. My current retirement account is doing decent, so I didn't want to mess with that, but that old 403b, which was sitting at around $25,000, seemed like the perfect candidate for diversification.
The whole rollover process was surprisingly smooth. I worked with a company that specialized in precious metals IRAs, and they pretty much handled everything from contacting my old plan administrator to getting the funds transferred. It took about a month and a half from start to finish, which felt like forever when you’re waiting, but was actually pretty quick in the grand scheme of things. Now I’ve got a good chunck of my retirement in physical gold, and it's a really reassuring feeling.
I know $25k isn't a massive portfolio, but for me, a regular teacher, it's a significant chunk of my savings. It just feels good to have that bit of security. Anyone else here pretty new to Gold IRAs and feeling good about their first steps? Or for the veterans – any tips for someone just starting out in the physical gold space?
