So, after staring at my 401k statement for way too long and getting increasingly twitchy about the market, I finally pulled the trigger. I rolled over about $70,000 from my old 401k into a Gold IRA. I’m a small business owner here in Denver, and honestly, the thought of watching my retirement fund get squeezed again just didn't sit right with me. This is my first time doing anything like this, so I’m pretty new to all the specifics.
The whole process was actually smoother than I expected, which was a relief. I went with a company that was pretty highly recommended after a bunch of research, and they walked me through everything. I opted for mostly Gold American Eagles – felt like a solid, recognizable choice. Still, it’s a big chunk of change to move around, and even though I feel better having some tangible assets, there's always that little voice asking if I did the "right" thing. Anyone else gone through a similar rollover recently?
I’m curious to hear about other people’s experiences, especially those who might have done a similar rollover amount. What were your biggest concerns? Did you diversify within your precious metals, or stick to one type of coin/round? Any Denver locals here who have thoughts on local storage options or even just general advice for a newbie Gold IRA investor? Trying to learn as much as possible now that I’ve taken the plunge.
