Rolled over 401k to Gold IRA - Timeline felt like a drag

Finally got around to rolling over a chunk of my old 401k into a Gold IRA. Had about $300k sitting in a pretty standard equity fund that honestly felt a little too vulnerable with how things are looking globally. My family's always been big on tangible assets, especially with our timber holdings, so this felt like a natural next step for diversifying some of that paper wealth.
The whole process itself, from initial inquiry with the Gold IRA company to actually seeing the precious metals in the vault account, felt a bit drawn out. Not complaining about the security or due diligence, obviously, but man, I was expecting a quicker turnaround. It took about 3 weeks from when I first initiated the request with my old 401k administrator to when the funds actually landed with the Gold IRA custodian. Then another week and a half for the metal purchase and allocation into the vault. So, almost 5 weeks total. Is that normal?
I know it's a big move financially, and I'm glad it's done, especially given the current inflation concerns and the general instability. I'm based out of Spokane, and while I keep tabs on the local economy, my larger concern is protecting this generational wealth our family has built. Just curious if others have had similar experiences with the timeline. Did yours feel slow, or was mine an edge case? Any tips for streamlining it if I ever do this again?
