Just wanted to share my experience and hear from others. I finally pulled the trigger on rolling over part of my old 401K into a Gold IRA earlier this year. I'm a government employee here in Albuquerque, and while the pension is nice, I really wanted to diversify and have some tangible assets outside of just paper. My total portfolio for this was about $65k, so definitely on the smaller side compared to some of the whales out there, but still a significant chunk for me.
I ended up going with Augusta Precious Metals after doing a ton of research. Their customer service was awesome, really walked me through the whole process, and honestly made me feel a lot more comfortable about making such a big move. The fees seemed reasonable for my amount, and I appreciate their transparency. It's only been a few months, but seeing that physical gold sitting there (well, in the vault, you know) gives me a sense of security I didn't have before. The peace of mind alone is worth it, especially with all the economic uncertainty these days.
I know there are a lot of options out there, and I want to potentially add more in the future. For those of you who have similar-sized portfolios (say, under $100k) or have done a 401K rollover, who did you go with? Any companies you absolutely love or, conversely, any you'd tell people to stay away from? Looking for more anecdotal experiences rather than just company websites.
Also, any thoughts on adding silver to the mix down the line, or is it better to just stick with gold for a smaller IRA? Thanks in advance for any insights!
