Okay, so I've been thinking about doing this for a while and finally pulled the trigger. My old 401k from a previous job was just sitting there, not really doing much for me. I'm a real estate agent here in Miami, and with the market being... interesting, I've been really focused on making sure my retirement savings are solid. I'm trying to build up a decent nest egg, hopefully hit that 250k mark and then keep growing it.
I ended up rolling over about $70k of that old 401k into a Gold IRA. Honestly, the process was a lot smoother than I expected. I did a ton of research on different gold IRA companies, looked at their fees, storage options, and overall customer service. I ended up going with one that had a really good reputation for transparency. The whole thought of having some physical assets backing my retirement, especially with all the economic uncertainty, just feels right.
It's a big move for me, but I feel really good about diversifying away from just paper assets. Real estate is my bread and butter, but it's also a big chunk of my personal wealth, so having some gold in the mix adds a different kind of security. Anyone else here gone through a similar rollover process? What was your experience like? Any surprises?
