Rolled my old 401k into gold, feeling good about it

Been seeing a lot of chatter lately on here about Gold IRAs and thought I'd share my own experience transferring some of my old 401k a few months back. I've been in steel for over 30 years, here in Birmingham, so I understand commodities better than most. Grew up with the price of scrap steel and iron ore dictating whether we had a good Christmas, you know? Always had an eye on the bigger picture when it came to tangible assets.
My old 401k from a previous gig had been sitting there, mostly in mutual funds, for too long. Ended up with about $300k in it. The market feels… frothy, to say the least. Watching the talking heads on TV trying to explain away every dip just made me think it was time to get some real diversification. Gold isn't shiny just for show; it's a hedge, and one I deeply believe in. So, after a lot of back and forth with a few different custodians, I pulled the trigger and rolled over about $150k into a Gold IRA.
The process itself was smoother than I expected. Once I found a custodian I was comfortable with (and let me tell you, there are some snakes out there, do your due diligence!), it was mostly paperwork. The funds transferred over without a hitch, and now I've got a tangible asset backing a chunk of my retirement, not just paper promises. Sleep a little better at night knowing some of my nest egg isn't tied directly to the whims of the stock market.
Anyone else here made a similar move recently? How are you feeling about your allocation? I'm debating whether to put another chunk in if DXY keeps weakening, or if I should just hold steady for now. Always good to hear other perspectives from folks who understand the value of a physical asset.
