Rolled my old 401k into a Gold IRA - feeling good about it

Just wanted to share my experience for anyone else thinking about this. I've been running my agriculture business here in Fresno for twenty-plus years, and I've seen enough economic swings to know that having tangible assets is just smart. Always been a believer in real stuff you can touch, not just numbers on a screen.
So, about three months ago, I finally pulled the trigger on rolling over my old 401k – the one from my early days before I took over the farm completely – into a Gold IRA. It was sitting there, doing okay, but not exactly inspiring confidence. We're talking probably around $85,000 when I started the process. The stock market feels... dicey right now, especially with all the talk about interest rates and inflation. I just kept thinking about how all those paper assets could just vanish overnight, and it honestly kept me up some nights.
The actual process wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I found a company that specialized in precious metals IRAs and they basically guided me through the whole thing. A few forms, some phone calls between them and my old 401k administrator, and it was done. Took about three weeks from start to finish. The funds were transferred directly, so no tax implications there, which was my biggest concern. Now I have physical gold protecting a good chunk of my retirement savings, and frankly, I feel a lot more secure about it.
Anyone else here made the switch? How are you feeling about your allocation to precious metals right now? Thinking about adding some silver down the line, but wanted to get established with gold first. What's been your experience?
