Rebalancing - Shifting from Silver to Gold for Long-Term IRA?

Been wrestling with this for a few weeks now and finally decided to throw it out to the collective wisdom here. My IRA is sitting around $380k right now, and a decent chunk – probably 15% or so – is in silver bars, mostly 100oz and a few Combibars. I got into silver a few years back, just before I got promoted at the distillery here in Lexington, and it’s done pretty well for me. No complaints on that front.
My concern is more about long-term stability and legacy, especially looking ahead to retirement. My dad always swore by gold as the ultimate store of value, and I've been eyeing some of the 1oz and 10oz gold coins. He was in commodities for a bit before he retired, always talked about how gold weathered every storm. My thinking is to potentially rebalance a good portion of that silver into gold. Not all of it, maybe keep 5% in silver, but shift the rest. Silver's great for shorter-term gains, sometimes, but gold just feels… sturdier for a retirement account. Like one of those old Kentucky distilleries that's been in business for 150 years – just solid, enduring value.
Has anyone here made a similar move, transitioning a significant portion of their silver holdings to gold within their IRA? What were your experiences? Did you regret it, or was it a good call? I'm trying to think through the tax implications of selling within the IRA and then buying gold, but it should just be an in-kind transfer, right? Or am I missing something there?
I’ve also been messing around with the Retirement Planner tool I found online to model out different portfolio allocations. It’s given me some interesting perspectives on how a higher gold percentage might play out over the next 20-30 years. Any thoughts on how the current market conditions might impact such a rebalancing strategy? Appreciate any insights you guys can offer.
