Rebalancing - Moving out of some gold rounds?
- •Okay, so I've been thinking about my portfolio a lot lately, especially with everything going on.
- •A good chunk of that, probably around 20k, is in Physical Gold IRA, mostly in various gold rounds we picked up over the years.

Okay, so I've been thinking about my portfolio a lot lately, especially with everything going on. My late husband, God rest his soul, was the one who really got me into investing, and I'm trying my best to manage the ~80k he left me, wanting to honor his hard work. A good chunk of that, probably around 20k, is in Physical Gold IRA, mostly in various gold rounds we picked up over the years. We started this maybe 5-6 years ago, and it's been a really steady part of the portfolio, which has been comforting.
My advisor here in Raleigh has been suggesting I look at rebalancing slightly. Not pulling out of gold entirely, but maybe reducing my physical gold rounds by 10-15% and shifting it into something else, perhaps some precious metal ETFs or even broadening into some silver. Her reasoning is diversification, which I understand completely. My main concern is that these rounds feel so tangible, you know? They were a point of pride for my husband, and I’ve always felt secure knowing they're there, physically accounted for.
Has anyone here moved away from physical gold rounds towards gold ETFs or other precious metal vehicles within their IRA? What was your experience like? Did you feel a loss of that "physical" security, or did the diversification benefits outweigh that? I'm trying to be pragmatic, but there's an emotional component here for me too, protecting his legacy and all. Any thoughts or advice from those who've gone through a similar reevaluation would be really helpful.
