Rebalancing - Is Anyone Else Feeling This Pull?

I've been watching the markets lately and, like a good ship captain, I'm thinking about making a course correction. My portfolio, currently sitting comfortably in the mid-seven figures, has enjoyed a good run, and a significant chunk of that is in physical gold through my IRA. I started seriously looking into precious metals around 2018, just after my final tour, and it's been a solid anchor in my retirement strategy ever since. The stability has been key, especially with the inflation we've seen.
My concern isn't with gold itself – I remain a strong believer in its long-term value, particularly with all the geopolitical chatter. What I'm grappling with is the sheer percentage it now represents. When I set up my allocations, I aimed for a balanced approach, but with gold's recent performance, it's starting to overshadow other asset classes I hold. I'm talking about a position that's grown from a strategic hedge to a genuinely dominant portion of my nest egg. I'm based here in Virginia Beach, and while the ocean views are great, my portfolio isn't quite as placid!
So, the question for the group is, how do you approach rebalancing your precious metals allocation when it outperforms significantly? Do you trim the sails, so to speak, and divest some of that gold to bring it back in line with your original targets? Or do you let it run, trusting that the rising tide will continue? I'm not looking to make impulsive decisions, but my disciplined approach is telling me to at least consider locking in some of those gains and diversifying a bit more into other areas, perhaps some international equities or a well-vetted real estate play.
I know some of you are probably in even deeper with gold than I am, and others might have a more dynamic approach to rebalancing. Any insights or war stories (good or bad) would be appreciated. Always good to hear how others are managing their fleet.
