Rebalancing - how often are you guys touching your Gold IRA allocations?
- •My advisor, bless his heart, basically said “set it and forget it” with the precious metals, really emphasizing the hedge aspect.
- •Is anyone out there actually rebalancing their Gold IRA on a regular cycle?
- •I’m thinking about potentially adjusting percentages if, say, gold hits a certain target or dips below a threshold.
I’ve been eyeing my Gold IRA performance a lot closer lately, probably because the rest of my portfolio feels like it’s doing the Macarena and I’m just trying to keep my head above water. Transitioned out of tech a few months back – the whole Bay Area startup scene was getting a bit much – and now I’m spending more time actually digging into my investments rather than just leaving it all to an advisor. I initially dumped about 10% of my overall portfolio (sitting around $400k total right now) into physical gold within the IRA and some silver, mostly as that kind of long-term stability play.
My advisor, bless his heart, basically said “set it and forget it” with the precious metals, really emphasizing the hedge aspect. Which, yeah, I get. But with everything going on globally, and honestly, the inflation numbers making me twitch a bit more than usual, I’m wondering if I should be a little more proactive. Is anyone out there actually rebalancing their Gold IRA on a regular cycle? Like, quarterly? Annually?
I know the whole point is diversification and not trying to time the market with something as historically stable as gold, but my tech-brain is having a hard time just letting it sit. I’m thinking about potentially adjusting percentages if, say, gold hits a certain target or dips below a threshold. Or is that just overthinking it for this particular asset class? Would love to hear from others who have a decent chunk in their Gold IRA – what's your strategy?
