Quick question for those of you with a Gold IRA. I'm trying to figure out if the storage fees I'm being quoted are standard or if I should push back more. I'm looking at moving about $150k from a traditional IRA into a self-directed Gold IRA – trying to diversify a bit more, especially with all the ups and downs in the real estate market lately. Being a real estate agent myself here in Miami, I see firsthand how fast things can change, and I want some stability for my retirement nest egg.
The custodian I'm talking to is quoting me around $200-$250 annually for segregated storage, which seems a little high to me, especially when some others I've seen quote around $100-$150. Is it worth paying more for segregated if the value is "only" $150k right now? Or is commingled generally fine for that amount? I know the peace of mind is probably worth something, but those extra dollars every year add up over time.
Anyone have experience with different custodians or vaults? What are your storage fees like, and are you using segregated or commingled? Just trying to get a feel for what's normal for portfolios in this range. Any advice is appreciated!
