Platinum – The forgotten precious metal?

Been seeing a lot of chatter about gold and silver lately (which, don't get me wrong, I'm all about for diversification within my IRA – currently sitting at about 12% physical metals these days, which feels right for me). But I'm genuinely curious if anyone else is looking at platinum. It just feels... overlooked. My gut, and honestly, a lot of the charts I've been poring over, scream that it could be seriously undervalued right now.
I remember back when I was still managing a branch in downtown Portland, platinum was way more expensive than gold. Now the roles are reversed. Supply issues coming out of South Africa, increasing demand for hydrogen fuel cells and industrial catalytic converters – it just seems like the stars are aligning. I've been slowly building my physical gold and silver positions over the last 8-10 years, and I'm really eyeing platinum for a portion of my next allocation. I'm thinking about moving another $20-30k into metals this quarter, and platinum is definitely at the top of my list.
Am I crazy for thinking this? Is anyone else out there diversifying into platinum in their self-directed IRAs, or outside of them? What are your thoughts on its long-term potential compared to gold and silver? Don't get me wrong, I love my gold eagles and silver rounds, but part of me feels like I'm missing a trick by not grabbing some platinum before it potentially moons. Would love to hear some other perspectives on this, especially from folks who’ve been in the metals game for a while.
