I've been kicking around the idea of adding some palladium to my Gold IRA, and I wanted to get some gut checks from this community. Right now, my portfolio is sitting around the $180k mark, and about 15% of that is in physical gold and silver through my IRA. I'm an insurance agent here in Omaha, and I've always believed in a diversified approach to retirement planning – not just for clients, but for myself too. I still have a good chunk in traditional equities and some real estate, but the precious metals side feels like a solid hedge.
My gold and silver are with a reputable custodian, and I've been pretty happy with the process so far. But with palladium's recent volatility and its industrial demand, it's caught my eye. I've dabbled in a bit of research, and the supply/demand dynamics seem interesting, especially with the push towards greener technology. Is anyone here actually holding palladium in their IRA? What did your due diligence look like, and what made you pull the trigger (or decide against it)?
I'm primarily looking for long-term growth and inflation protection, and I'm wondering if palladium would truly complement my existing gold and silver, or if it's just adding another layer of complexity without enough benefit. I'm not looking to go crazy with it, maybe 2-3% of my total portfolio, or even just within the precious metals allocation. Any thoughts on the best way to approach this, or things I absolutely shouldn't do? I used the Gold IRA Quiz early on to get a handle on the basics, but it's more geared towards gold and silver, so I'm looking for more specific palladium insights.
