Palladium in IRA? Considering it for my late husband's

I've been doing a lot of research lately, trying to make sure I'm doing the right thing with the portfolio my late husband worked so hard to build. Most of it, about $75k, is in a Gold IRA, which has given me a lot of peace of mind these past few years. We always believed in tangible assets, and frankly, after everything, that stability is a huge comfort to me here in Raleigh.
Lately, I've seen some chatter about palladium, and it's got me wondering if it's something worth adding into the mix within the IRA. I'm not looking to make speculative gambles, especially not with Jim's legacy. It's more about diversification and protecting what's there. I'm wondering if anyone here has actual experience with palladium in their IRA? What are the pros and cons you've personally seen?
I know the market for precious metals can be volatile, and palladium especially seems to swing quite a bit more than gold. My primary goal isn't huge gains, but preserving capital and maybe a little incremental growth to keep up with things. The idea of holding another physical asset appeals to me, but I'm also conscious of getting out over my skis. The last thing I want is to make a move that would jeopardize the financial security Jim worked so hard to provide for us.
So, for those of you who've dipped your toes into palladium, especially within an IRA structure, is it proving to be a worthwhile component of your strategy? Are there specific custodians you'd recommend or warn against for palladium storage? Any insights, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom.
