New to Gold IRA, what were your biggest blunders?

Just rolled over a chunk of a previous 401k into a Gold IRA, about $400k of my total 5MM+ portfolio. I’ve traditionally been in real estate development up here in Aspen, always loved tangible assets, and the last few years have really cemented my belief in diversifying beyond just dirt and paper. I've always held a good amount of physical silver and some gold, but setting up the IRA was a slightly different beast. I'm thinking about increasing my allocation to precious metals in IRAs, maybe another $500k in the next year or so, assuming the market keeps doing… whatever it's doing.
I feel like I did my homework, vetted a few custodians, and got all the paperwork squared away, but there's always that nagging feeling you missed something. Especially with the regulatory landscape always shifting. For those of you who have been in this a while, especially anyone with a significant allocation, what were some of the biggest boneheaded mistakes you made early on? Anything you wish you’d known before diving in? I’m talking about anything from choosing a bad custodian, getting hit with unexpected fees, or making a poor choice in metal types.
I’ve been using the Learning Center at https://learn.goldirablueprint.com/?forum as a resource, which has been pretty solid for understanding the basics and some of the more nuanced rules. But nothing beats real-world experience. Any horror stories or even just minor annoyances you encountered that a newbie like me should be aware of? Trying to avoid learning all lessons the hard way, especially when we're talking about a significant chunk of change.
