I've been kicking around the idea of expanding my precious metals portfolio within my Gold IRA, specifically looking at some gold rounds. My husband and I have always believed in tangible assets, especially with everything going on these days. We’ve got about $75k currently in a Gold IRA, mostly American Gold Eagles, and we're looking to add another $10-$15k in rounds, maybe some buffalo ones too, in the next few months after harvest.

My current custodian, while okay, hasn't been the quickest to respond lately, and I’m starting to get that uneasy feeling. I'm based out here in rural Kansas City, Missouri, and it would be great to hear if anyone in the Midwest has a custodian they absolutely love. Someone who is efficient, transparent, and maybe even a little more personal? I manage all our finances big and small, and a good working relationship with the companies we use is important to me.

I've heard some horror stories about hidden fees or slow liquidation processes, and that just makes my stomach churn. My mama always said, "better safe than sorry," and that applies double when you're talking about your retirement savings. Has anyone had a particularly positive (or negative, I want the full scoop!) experience with a custodian when adding specific items like gold rounds? Are there any specific questions I should be asking when comparing them?

Also, completely unrelated but if anyone has any tips for keeping raccoons out of the corn crop, I'm all ears! We tried a scarecrow last year, and they practically used it as a perch.

Totally agree with you on the tangible assets front! It just feels more secure these days, doesn't it? I'm in Michigan and recently rolled over about $100k from an old 401k into a Gold IRA. Went with Advantage Gold after doing a ton of research, and so far, so good. Their reps were super helpful with all my questions about different types of metals and storage options. Hope that helps!

Hey there! I'm in the Midwest too, and totally feel you on the tangible assets. My husband and I started our Gold IRA a few years back and actually went with Augusta Precious Metals after a ton of research. They're not physically in the Midwest, but their customer service was fantastic – really walked us through everything from custodian options to storage. We ended up with a pretty solid custodian they recommended, even though they were out of state. It’s definitely worth looking into companies with a great reputation, even if they aren't local.

Hey, cool you're looking into gold rounds! I'm curious, what's drawing you to rounds specifically over, say, coins or bars for your Gold IRA?

Hey, I hear you on the tangible assets front – definitely a smart move. But instead of focusing purely on geographic proximity for a custodian, have you considered a truly national one that might offer better rates or a wider selection of gold rounds? Sometimes local can be comforting, but the best deals out there aren't always in your backyard, even for something as niche as Gold IRAs. Just a thought!

Hey there! Sounds like you're on a solid path. For anyone looking into Gold IRAs, especially if you're trying to figure out the custodian side of things, a good tip is to always check if they offer segregated storage. It's not always standard, but it means your specific metals are kept separate, not commingled with others. Gives a little extra peace of mind!
