Need Advice: Gold IRA Custodians - Anyone else in the Midwest?
- •I've been kicking around the idea of expanding my precious metals portfolio within my Gold IRA, specifically looking at some gold rounds.
- •My husband and I have always believed in tangible assets, especially with everything going on these days.
- •My current custodian, while okay, hasn't been the quickest to respond lately, and I’m starting to get that uneasy feeling.
I've been kicking around the idea of expanding my precious metals portfolio within my Gold IRA, specifically looking at some gold rounds. My husband and I have always believed in tangible assets, especially with everything going on these days. We’ve got about $75k currently in a Gold IRA, mostly American Gold Eagles, and we're looking to add another $10-$15k in rounds, maybe some buffalo ones too, in the next few months after harvest.
My current custodian, while okay, hasn't been the quickest to respond lately, and I’m starting to get that uneasy feeling. I'm based out here in rural Kansas City, Missouri, and it would be great to hear if anyone in the Midwest has a custodian they absolutely love. Someone who is efficient, transparent, and maybe even a little more personal? I manage all our finances big and small, and a good working relationship with the companies we use is important to me.
I've heard some horror stories about hidden fees or slow liquidation processes, and that just makes my stomach churn. My mama always said, "better safe than sorry," and that applies double when you're talking about your retirement savings. Has anyone had a particularly positive (or negative, I want the full scoop!) experience with a custodian when adding specific items like gold rounds? Are there any specific questions I should be asking when comparing them?
Also, completely unrelated but if anyone has any tips for keeping raccoons out of the corn crop, I'm all ears! We tried a scarecrow last year, and they practically used it as a perch.
