Thought I’d share a bit about my silver journey, especially since I see a lot of talk here about just gold. When I left my bank manager gig a few years back – couldn't handle the corporate grind anymore, honestly – I took a chunk of my 401k and rolled about $300k into a Gold IRA. But I didn't stop there. I've always been a big believer in tangible assets, something I can actually hold, and while gold’s great, silver just felt like a better fit for a portion of my portfolio given its industrial uses and lower entry point per ounce.

My strategy for silver has been pretty consistent: dollar-cost averaging into physical holdings. I’m not talking about ETFs or mining stocks; I mean actual coins and bars. I started with a modest $20k initial purchase about five years ago, mostly Eagles and Maple Leafs, and I've been adding roughly $500 to $1000 worth every month since. It’s been a slow build, but seeing that stack grow in my secure storage here in Portland is a much more comforting feeling than staring at numbers on a screen. I know some of you might think it's too much focus on physical, but after seeing the financial markets do their thing for so many years, I just have this deep-seated need for something real.

The price swings can be wild, no doubt. There have been times I've questioned if I was making the right call, especially when it dips hard. But then I remind myself of the long game and the industrial demand that's only going to increase with all the green tech coming out. I'm sitting on around $60k in physical silver now, alongside my gold holdings, and it feels like a solid hedge. What about you all? Is anyone else here prioritizing physical silver in their precious metals strategy? Or do you lean more towards the larger gold plays with your Gold IRA?

I rolled over about $80k last year. Honestly the hardest part was just picking which metals to hold. Still second-guessing myself.

Hey, that's awesome! I totally get the appeal of physical. I actually started out with a similar mindset, though on a much smaller scale. My first "big" investment after my startup got acquired involved a Gold IRA, but I kept looking at that physical silver thinking, "Man, that just feels more tangible." Ended up adding a good amount of physical silver to my own stack over time. There's just something different about holding it, you know?

Hey, that's an interesting strategy! When you say you "didn't stop there" after the initial Gold IRA, what percentage of your total precious metals portfolio would you say is now in physical silver, compared to the gold in your IRA?

Interesting strategy, sounds like you've really thought it through. While I get the appeal of silver for its industrial uses and lower entry point, I've always leaned harder into gold for the long-term store of value. It just feels like it holds its purchasing power more consistently through different economic cycles. Plus, the spread on silver can be a real killer when you go to sell. Have you considered that much with your current strategy, or are you mostly banking on significant price appreciation?

Nice post! Always good to see people diversifying beyond just gold. Since you're into physical, I'd highly recommend checking out some of the YouTube channels dedicated to precious metal stacking. Guys like Silver Dragons or SD Bullion often do great reviews of different silver products and can offer solid insights into market trends for physical.

It's super helpful to hear from others in the community about their stacking strategies. Keep us updated on your progress!
