Thought I'd share my experience with Augusta Precious Metals, especially since I just finished another rollover and got more silver bars. Been seeing a few posts about Gold IRAs lately, and figured my perspective might be useful for others who are on the fence.
I started with Augusta about two and a half years ago, a few years after retiring from the Navy. After decades of service and seeing some serious economic swings, financial security for retirement is my absolute top priority. I had about $300k in an old 401k that was just sitting there, feeling vulnerable to market volatility. I researched a bunch of different companies, but Augusta really stood out with their educational approach and no-pressure sales tactics. Their team in Nevada was super transparent about everything, which I appreciated. They made the whole direct rollover process incredibly smooth, from setting up the new IRA to getting the funds transferred from my old custodian.
My primary focus has always been silver, specifically bars. I like the lower entry point compared to gold, and the industrial demand just makes me feel good about its long-term prospects. For this latest transfer, I added another chunk of 100oz silver bars. The transparency on their pricing for these has always been excellent, and I've never felt like I'm getting played. For me, having a portion of my retirement portfolio in something tangible and outside the traditional financial system just offers a peace of mind that stocks and bonds no longer do. Living here in San Diego, it's a security blanket against whatever craziness might be happening in Washington D.C. or the global markets.
So far, I've had zero complaints with their customer service. Any time Iβve called, theyβve been responsive and knowledgeable. My account is sitting pretty close to $400k now, with a good chunk of that diversified into physical silver and some gold coins. Has anyone else had similar experiences with Augusta, particularly with their silver offerings? Or are there other companies folks have found to be equally reliable for physical metals in an IRA?
