Thought I'd share my experience with Augusta Precious Metals for anyone considering them. I've only got about $70k in my Gold IRA, all in silver bars currently, and I'm a bit of a small-town guy – mayor here in Boise, actually, so community and transparency are a big deal to me. I spent a good month researching different companies before pulling the trigger, trying to find someone who wasn't just going to push me into something I didn't understand. Augusta really stood out for their educational approach.
The whole process was surprisingly smooth. From the initial educational webinars they offer (which were actually incredibly informative, not just a sales pitch) to setting up the account, I felt like they were genuinely interested in making sure I understood everything. I worked with a guy named Tom – super patient, answered every single one of my ten thousand questions, and never once made me feel rushed or stupid for asking. My biggest concern was dealing with all the IRS rules and paperwork, but they handled pretty much all of it. Felt like a huge weight off my shoulders.
I ended up going with all silver bars, mostly 10oz and 100oz, just based on what I felt comfortable with and the current market. I like the tangible aspect of silver, and it feels like a good hedge against inflation, especially with all the talk lately. The pricing felt fair, and they were very upfront about their fees, which I appreciated. My metals are stored with Delaware Depository, which is a big name in the industry, so I feel pretty secure about that.
It's only been about six months, but so far, so good. No red flags, no aggressive sales calls after the fact, just calm, consistent service. Anyone else out there using them for their IRA? What's your long-term experience been like? Always interested in hearing other perspectives, especially from folks who've been with them for a while.
