My 401k to Gold IRA transfer - timeline and what to expect?

Just closed on the Ajax deal up in Vail, so feeling pretty good. Looking at finally rolling over a couple of old 401ks I’ve been sitting on. One’s with Fidelity, the other with a regional bank I used to work with in Denver. Between the two, we’re talking about $1.8M that I want to move into physical gold and silver within my SDIRA. My CPA has been hounding me about this for months, saying I’m too exposed to the market, and honestly, with the way things are going, I agree.
My main question revolves around the timeline for a rollover of this size. I've done smaller rollovers before, but never anything this substantial, and never specifically into a precious metals IRA. What did your process look like from initial contact with the custodian to actually having the metals secured in the vault? I’m envisioning a few weeks, maybe a month, but I don’t want to be caught off guard if it drags on longer. Are there any common pitfalls that stalled your transfer? I’m thinking about setting up two separate SDIRAs, one for each 401k, just to keep things clean and avoid any commingling issues, but open to advice there too.
Also, any recommendations on custodians or actual precious metals dealers who are particularly efficient with this process? I’ve got some platinum in my personal safe at home, but I’m looking to diversify into more gold and silver this time. I prefer to buy from dealers who have a good track record with larger transactions and can handle the vaulting directly, or at least have preferred partners. Based in Aspen, so quick access to paperwork and signatures is a plus, but I travel a lot for my development projects anyway.
